Why portray Benjamin Franklin?
Back in July, 2005, I was asked to portray Dr Franklin, for 1 day, at an NWTA event in early September in Illinois. Needless to say, this caught me quite by surprise. My persona at that time was a rifleman with Benedict Arnold's forces, trying to take Quebec from the British in November, 1775 (Yes, we did invade Canada). To portray a famous American, a man of the "upper sort", was quite a challenge.
My wife had made a Frock coat for me; I had the proper clothing, and hat. I got a wig (which you can see in the picture album) on Ebay. I researched 2 sources, and did my 1st-person presentation on Saturday at the event. I returned to my rifleman persona on Sunday; a number of reenactors came up to me, and asked why I was NOT doing Franklin today. They said I did an excellent job.
And that is where the "creature was created".
